Royal Glory Ministry

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Today, I want to speak to you about something that is vital for every believer who has experienced the power of God’s deliverance: how to retain your deliverance.
Deliverance is a profound act of God’s mercy and power, setting us free from spiritual, emotional, and physical oppression. However, being delivered is just the beginning of the journey. The real challenge lies in maintaining that freedom and walking in sustained victory. Many believers lose their deliverance because they fail to take the necessary steps to protect and nurture it. My prayer today is that as you read, the Holy Spirit will give you the understanding and wisdom you need to keep walking in freedom.

Why Deliverance Is Repeated

One of the common questions I hear is, “Why do I keep needing deliverance?” Many believers find themselves trapped in cycles of oppression, even after experiencing deliverance. The truth is, deliverance alone is not enough; it requires a transformed life to make it permanent.
There are two primary reasons why people experience repeated deliverance:
Resistance to Lifestyle Change
Deliverance is more than just relief from spiritual attacks—it is a call to transformation. Some believers only seek temporary freedom but are unwilling to make the lifestyle changes that keep the doors to oppression shut. Without addressing the root causes—be it sinful habits, toxic relationships, or spiritual neglect—freedom cannot last.

Incomplete Spiritual Surrender

True deliverance requires total surrender to Christ. When a believer is not fully committed to Jesus, old patterns can resurface, and the same or even stronger spiritual challenges can return. Deliverance is not just about casting out the enemy; it’s about inviting Jesus to take full control of your life.

The Biblical Foundation for Deliverance

Deliverance is not a human invention; it is firmly rooted in the authority of Jesus Christ. Let me remind you of some powerful scriptures that anchor our understanding of deliverance:
Philippians 2:9-11: “At the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.” The name of Jesus carries ultimate authority, and no demonic power can stand against it.
Mark 16:17: “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons.” Deliverance is a sign of a believer walking in faith and authority.
John 5:14: Jesus told the man He healed, “Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” This verse highlights the importance of a lifestyle change after deliverance. Without repentance and transformation, we open the door for the enemy to return.

Practical Steps to Retain Deliverance

Deliverance is a gift from God, but retaining it requires intentional effort. If you want to keep your freedom, here are practical steps you must take:
Total Surrender to Christ

Fully accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, not just in words but in every aspect of your life.
Embrace a lifestyle of holiness, walking in obedience to God’s Word. Holiness protects you from spiritual attacks and keeps you in alignment with God’s will.
Close Spiritual Doors

Avoid sinful habits, toxic environments, and relationships that create openings for spiritual oppression.
Break associations with past influences—whether it’s ungodly practices, demonic objects, or worldly attachments—that hinder your spiritual growth.
Build a Strong Spiritual Life

Develop a disciplined prayer life. Prayer keeps you connected to God and strengthens your spiritual defenses.
Commit to regular fasting, which helps break strongholds and aligns your spirit with God’s will.
Stay rooted in the Word of God. The Bible is your weapon against the enemy and your guide to living victoriously.
Maintain fellowship with other believers who will encourage and hold you accountable.
Guard Against Spiritual Complacency

Deliverance is not the end of the battle—it’s the beginning of a new journey. Be vigilant and resist the temptation to return to old patterns.
Engage in spiritual warfare daily by declaring God’s promises over your life and resisting the enemy with the authority of Jesus.

Understanding Spiritual Dynamics

To retain your deliverance, you must understand how the spiritual realm operates. The Bible gives us insight into the enemy’s tactics in Matthew 12:43-45:
“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean, and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.”
This passage reveals a critical truth: deliverance is not just about driving out the enemy, but about filling your life with the presence of God. If you don’t fill your “house” with the Holy Spirit, prayer, the Word of God, and godly habits, the enemy will see an opportunity to return—even stronger than before.

Lessons from My Personal Experience

Let me share a bit of my own journey with you. As a young believer, shortly after my salvation, I began casting out demons. At first, I did this with simple faith in the name of Jesus, and I saw results because of the power of His name.
However, as I grew in my spiritual walk, I realized that deliverance became even more effective after my baptism in the Holy Spirit. Why? Because deliverance is not about human effort—it’s about the Holy Spirit working in and through us. This taught me that spiritual growth and intimacy with God are essential to walking in consistent victory.

Call to Action: Take Responsibility for Your Freedom

Deliverance is not a one-time event—it’s a call to a transformed life. God has done His part by setting you free, but now it’s your responsibility to walk in that freedom.
Here’s what I encourage you to do today:
Take responsibility for your spiritual growth by committing to prayer, fasting, and studying God’s Word.
Live in alignment with God’s Word, closing every door to the enemy.
Actively pursue a relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is your Helper, your Comforter, and your Strength.
When you do these things, you will not only retain your deliverance but also live a victorious, fulfilling life that brings glory to God.

Final Word

Beloved, don’t let the enemy steal your freedom. Deliverance is God’s gift to you, and it’s your responsibility to nurture it. Fill your life with the presence of God, walk in holiness, and stay vigilant in your faith. As you do, you will see the fruit of God’s power in your life, and your testimony will inspire others to seek the same freedom in Christ.
If you’ve experienced deliverance but are struggling to maintain it, I want to pray with you. You are not alone in this journey, and God’s grace is more than sufficient for you.
“Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)
God bless you richly as you walk in His freedom!
